Sustainable WASH
(2012; Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda; microsites.globalwaters.org/SWS)

Sustainable WASH is a “collaborative activity funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop, test, and document high-potential systems approaches for local water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) service delivery” so that they may “increase the availability and sustainable management of safe water and sanitation for the unserved and most vulnerable.” To do so they recognize that there is a need to strengthen and engage local systems.
The SWS approach has tried to “understand the complexity, interactions, and interdependencies between actors and factors in a deliberate, rigorous manner”; act based on this understanding and regularly “adapt to feedback and changing conditions”.
