The Security and Sustainability Guide

World Academy for Art and Science

The SSG is a project of WAAS.
WAAS was founded on faith in the power of original and creative ideas — Real Ideas with effective power — to change the world. It serves as a forum that addresses the pressing challenges confronting humanity today, discussing them objectively, scientifically, globally, and free from vested interests or regional attachments to arrive at solutions that affirm universal human rights and serve the common good of all humanity.

UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network

SDSN seeks to mobilize scientific and technical expertise from academia, civil society, and the private sector in support of sustainable development problem-solving at local, national, and global scales.  SDSN is building a network of universities, research centers, and other knowledge institutions. The members are organized around national or regional SDSNs to promote Solutions Initiatives, develop educational materials, and work towards the Agenda 2030.

Global Goals Directory

GGD focuses on accelerating the progress of “the UN Sustainable Development Goals by supporting and facilitating collaboration and partnerships between non-profit organizations, private companies, think tanks, universities, and governments.

It is engaged in mapping the landscape of SDG-focused organizations in Germany. The mapping along these global goals is partially done through automated tools like Natural Language Processing (NLP) and web scraping.

“There can be no doubt that security and sustainability, in their broadest sense, are vital for humanity in the 21st century, and, increasingly, both should be considered together.  We must congratulate Marien, Harries, and Sales for providing us with this important Guide describing key active organizations worldwide, all seeking to attain the intertwined objectives of security and sustainability for the betterment of all people and the planet.”

Prof. Heitor Gurgulino de Souza( President, WAAS)

“The S&S Guide is a valuable source of knowledge about our emerging global society, and an invaluable practical tool for those who seek greater understanding of the expanding breadth and depth of research, policy formulation, and activities related to the domains of security and sustainability.”
