It promotes corporate sustainability to create long-term value by evaluating the sustainability performance of publicly trading companies; providing a main global index, the DJSI World, and various indexes based on various geographic regions. It also contains industry-specific indexes called “blue chip indexes.” Its methodology facilitates the design, development and delivery of customized sustainability indexes. Since its economic, environmental and social selection criteria evolve each year, companies must continue to make improvements to their long-term sustainability plans in order to remain on the yearly updated Index.  It is managed cooperatively by by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM.
