This energy storage company has the mission “to enable the energy transition from fossil fuels to clean energy and to create a sustainable, modern life.”  They produce “industry-leading technologies and battery systems with $1.8bn invested in R&D to date backed with over 400 patents/patents pending.” They started a €1.6bn investment project in joint-venture with a Chinese company to build a gigafactory for lithium-ion batteries in the Yangtze River delta, and have facilities in the US, China, UK, and Norway.

In 2018 Lithium Werks merged with two other battery manufacturers, Valence from the US and Super B from the Netherlands, to form Lithium Werks B.V.  A123 Systems out of MIT was purchased at the end of 2017.
