It combines research with its application in academic and political discussions, intersecting the fields of development and peace with a focus on practical research. INEF concentrates on three main research areas: Global Governance for Sustainable Development, Human Rights and Regulation in the Global Economy, and Social Conflicts and Resilience. It is a research institute part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
