It tries to transform “the consumer goods industry towards more sustainable consumer products.” Its members and partners include “manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, service providers, NGOs, civil society organizations, governmental agencies, and academics.” Together they strive for “a world in the near future where we can experience the benefits of consumer products without causing harm to people or going beyond the environmental limits of our planet.” It is administered by Arizona State University with additional operations at Wageningen UR in the Netherlands.
