It’s focused on rice research, development, and capacity building with a goal to reduce poverty, achieve food and nutrition security, and improve the livelihoods of farmers and other actors in the rice value chain in Africa. This is done by increasing the productivity and profitability of rice-based agri-food systems while ensuring sustainable use of natural resources. It is also an inter-governmental association composed of African member countries.
