The authoritative Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, comprising 230 authors from 65 countries, has announced four “AR6” reports from its three Working Groups. In particular, to prepare these reports, the first step is the scoping process. The outline of the publications must be drafted and developed by experts nominated by member governments and observer organizations. Second, the outline must be approved by the Panel.
Later, governments and observer organizations must appoint experts as authors, and the bureaux will select among the nominees. Once the reviewing phase is over, the report is issued entirely. Likewise, in each publication, peer-reviewed and internationally available scientific-technical and socio-economic literature are available for the public.
AR6 Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis

Working Group I
This report “will address the most updated physical understanding of the climate system” For this reason, the information will “show how and why climate has changed to date and the improved understanding of the human influence on a wider range of climate characteristics, including extreme events.” Importantly, this edition of the report will focus on regional information for climate risk assessments. AR6 Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability

Working Group II
This report will estimate the impact worldwide on a “regional view of ecosystems and biodiversity.” Simultaneously, it will review the implications for humans and their societies, cultures, and settlements. Besides, it will “consider the vulnerabilities and the capacities and limits of the natural world” and human communities to adapt. Hence, it will evaluate adaptation and mitigation efforts to reduce climate-associated risks.
AR6 Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change
21-25 March 2022
Working Group III
This report will assess the progress in limiting emissions and the range of available mitigation options in the context of sustainable development for energy and urban systems and sectors such as:
- Agriculture
- Forestry
- Land use
- Buildings
- Transport
- Industry
Also, it will evaluate the relationship between short to medium-term actions and long-term emission pathways that limit global warming.
AR6 Synthesis Report: Climate Change 2022
26-30 September 2022
Finally, the synthesis report will integrate the three Working Group reports, as well as the findings from the three cross-Working Group Special Reports prepared during the cycle:

- Climate Change and Land (SRCCL, August 2019)
- The Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC, September 2019).
