A social enterprise formerly known as ‘Off-Grid Electric’ with the mission “to light up Africa with sustainable solar power.” By now they are powering the homes of over one million people in five countries and employ more than 1000 locals. Their services are “non-exclusive, meaning everyone in the household benefits – male and female, young and old.” Associated loosely with Development Innovation Ventures, part of the U.S. Global Development Lab, that is supporting breakthrough solutions to the world’s most intractable development challenges—interventions that could change millions of lives at a fraction of the usual cost.
