Valdai International Discussion Club
(2004; Moscow; 55 staff; www.valdaiclub.com)
Is a think tank and discussion forum with over 1000 representatives from 71 countries “including professors from major world universities and think tanks.” As of 2014, the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club “assumed all responsibility for management of the Club’s projects.” With that change in management came another change in the Club’s mission as it moved away from “telling the world about Russia” to striving to form “the global agenda” by delivering a reliable “assessment of global political and economic issues” as well as promoting “dialogue among the global intellectual elite in order to find solutions to overcome the crises of the international system” with the help of “opinion-makers across various fields.”
