The International Coral Reef Society

The International Coral Reef Society (1980; Waco, TX;

ICRS aims to become a “leader in coral reef scientific discovery, to contribute to the education of future coral reef scientists, and to be a strong voice for science informing policies that protect coral reefs”. To this end, it works towards the improvement “of scientific knowledge and understanding of coral reefs, both living and fossil.” The society also “organizes the International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS), which is held quadrennially”
