(2012, Providence RI; 2 staff, 18 faculty, 8 visiting scholars, 66 fellows;

Based at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University. It supports faculty, graduate and undergraduate research and teaching on the region and is home to the South Asian Studies concentration. Its approach to regional studies is anchored in multidisciplinary social sciences. Sponsors a variety of events, e.g., Constructing a majority: A micro-level study of voting patterns in Indian elections (September, 2018).
