A global organization that tries to transform “the consumer goods industry towards more sustainable consumer products,” with >100 members. Members and partners include “manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, service providers, NGOs, civil society organizations, governmental agencies, and academics.”
Their vision is “a world in the near future where we can experience the benefits of consumer products without causing harm to people or going beyond the environmental limits of our planet.”
They focus on the impact of products by applying scientific findings to business with the help of market stakeholders, and assessing and rating products based on their sustainability score. They claim that $200b worth of consumer goods are managed using one or more of their 2000+ tools and services.
The Consortium has 12 projects, including an Agriculture Metrics Task Force, Beauty and Personal Care Product Sustainability Rating System, Commodity Mapping, and Sustainable Coffee Challenge
