The World in 2050 (TWI2050) is a global research initiative in support of implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda. The goal is to provide fact-based knowledge to support the policy process and implementation of sustainable development goals.
The organization responsible for TWI2050, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), was founded in 1972 as a Cold War initiative for US-USSR collaboration. It has 23 national member organizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, conducts independent research, and is intended to advise world leaders on integrated, feasible, and acceptable sustainable development pathways.
