It aims to create a “a world order in which the legitimate rights of nations to self-determination are balanced by and consistent with the collective rights of the global community to protect and advance the common good of humanity.” As such, it calls for urgent progress in developing the democratic world institutions of law by which the world’s people and nations can govern their relations to assure a peaceful, just, and ecologically sustainable world community.
