A partnership supported by the US government with the mission “to unite and mobilize best of U.S. expertise, resources and ingenuity to address global water challenges, with a special focus on developing countries where needs are greatest”. They see themselves as “a single entry point to access the best of U.S. expertise, resources and ingenuity to address global water security challenges.” They identify co-investment opportunities and raise awareness for global water issues.

Programs:

  • Water Experts Program (WEP) – A “cooperative program between USWP and the U.S. Department of State, identifies and deploys American water experts to high-priority countries to help improve water security by providing expert advice to key host-country stakeholders through meetings, workshops, briefings, and assessments. Water Experts cover a wide range of issues, such as water and climate security, transboundary water cooperation, sanitation, water quality and efficiency, integrated management of surface and ground water, grey and green water infrastructure, and the water-energy-food nexus.”
  • A network of “over 1,600 practitioners, experts, and decisionmakers from diverse sectors through numerous events to address water issues.” It facilitates “the exchange of information on emerging trends and challenges, sharing of best practices and innovative technologies, discussions on priority focal areas, and ultimately, cultivated working relationships for collaborative innovation around water issues.”
  • Leadership Program – Provides “leaders from U.S. government and non-government sectors with the means needed to elevate water as a priority and deploy integrated ‘whole of system’ and ‘whole of U.S.’ approaches to solving water challenges.”
