The institute works to promote a nonviolent, sustainable and peaceful world, by nurturing and developing “regional and global institutions, mechanisms and programmes to advance national and human security and guarantee stable peace.” It promotes “environmental security alongside sustainable and just development  to protect peoples against the negative impacts of climate change, socio-economic fragility and conflict.” TIGPPR also works to “prevent and transform direct and indirect violence within Asia and the rest of the world”.
