It is a general incorporated association, which actively “disseminates and promotes public awareness toward the formation of sustainability in society amongst businesses, local governments and the general public while nurturing new human resources through education that incorporates sustainability science.” It works to “develop existing research, education, and public outreach programs and to strengthen coordination between national and local actors while developing practical measures aimed at technological innovation and social transformation”.
