With a focus on peace and conflict, it analyzes the causes and patterns of conflict at both global and local levels and contributes to efforts in building and sustaining peace. The institute provides practical recommendations on peace and conflict-related issues, combining basic research with knowledge transfer for policy, media, and society. As a member of the Leibniz Association, PRIF is funded by the German federal government, the state of Hesse, and the city of Frankfurt, and also receives third-party funds. PRIF’s experts regularly contribute comments on current policy issues in print and electronic media.
