It works to “share a desire to secure tangible improvements in global ocean health, while also strengthening ocean conservation philanthropy”, focusing “on projects to stop overfishing through fisheries management reforms and to establish marine protected areas (MPAs), among the two highest ecological priorities identified by marine scientists.” It also  “supports results-oriented conservation projects throughout the world” and “includes new and experienced philanthropists with a common inspiration for collaborative, results-oriented grantmaking.”
