Funded by a $1.39 million Department of Defense grant, the AI Strategies project at George Mason University studies how cultural values and institutional priorities influence AI infrastructures globally. It aims to understand the security implications of different AI contexts, focusing specifically on the economic and cultural factors.     • 2023 Global AI Infrastructures Report (August 2023, 49p) – It uses computer science techniques to examine AI policies from 54 countries. It offers insights into national AI priorities, key factors influencing global strategies, and where approaches converge and diverge.

Events:

  • AI and Tech Policy Summer Institute – Introduces Masters and Doctoral students to key concepts in AI, including fundamental engineering principles, policy and regulatory frameworks, ethics, and security, economy, and human rights issues.
