Biological Diversity Convention

Convention on Biological Diversity (1993; Montreal; 53 staff; cbd.int)

Initiated by the United Nations Environment Programme “to halt the continuing loss of biodiversity.” The website offers a large amount of information on related subjects and international and national developments regarding biodiversity.

It has three main objectives:

  1. Conservation of biological diversity;
  2. Sustainable use of the components of biological diversity;
  3. Fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources.
