Works to integrate and expand knowledge of subsurface phenomena across scientific disciplines using both experimental and modeling methodologies to better understand and quantify their behavior at conditions far from equilibrium. It pursues scientific understanding of multiscale physical, chemical, and biological subsurface processes to ensure safe and economically feasible storage of carbon dioxide and other byproducts of energy production without harming the environment. Over the years, the center partnered with other organizations to conduct educational outreach programs to reach out to undergraduate students and high school students as well as their educators.
