Driven by their mission of “shaping the global future together,” the organisation  galvanizes US leadership and engagement in the world, in partnership with allies and partners, to shape solutions to global challenges. It “provides a forum for international political, business, and intellectual leaders,” managing ten regional centers and functional programs related to international security and global economic prosperity. The purpose of the forum is to navigate “the dramatic economic and political changes defining the twenty-first century by informing and galvanizing its uniquely influential network of global leaders.”
