It works to alleviate the suffering inflicted on animals by humans. It was started with the aim of ending the cruel treatment of animals in experimental laboratories but the work has now expanded to take on other animal welfare causes. This includes engagement with policymakers, scientists, industry, and the public to abolish factory farms, improve the treatment of animals in research and encourage the use of alternatives to animal experimentation, preserving species that are threatened with extinction, among other things.
