U.S. Resiliency Council (2015; Atherton CA; http://usrc.org/)

This non-profit developed a rating system to assess “the performance of buildings during earthquakes and other natural hazard events, to educate the general public to understand these risks, and to thereby improve societal resilience.” They try to develop a national consensus about building performance and promote resilience-based building designs. Their 59 founding members are stakeholders including engineering and industrial companies, architects, contractors, and individuals.

Programs:

  • Transaction Earthquake Rating: A report for making well-informed property investment decisions and managing risk exposure.
  • Verified Earthquake Rating: Building needs to meet specific performance thresholds for different rating levels.
