Green Climate Fund

Green Climate Fund (2010; Incheon City, Korea; www.gcfund.net).

An operating entity of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), “to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts…to combat climate change.” In the context of sustainable development, the Fund will facilitate the transfer of money from the developed to the developing world, to assist countries in adaptation and mitigation practices to counter climate change.  Goal: lead the effort to raise $100 billion a year by 2020, and “to promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways.” Executive Director: Ms. Hela Cheikhrouhou.
